Different Methods of Carpet Cleaning

Carpet cleaning is an important part of maintaining your home. With the different types available, it can be hard to know which one will work best for you and your carpets! Luckily we're here with all answers. Let's take a look at each method, shall we?

Carpet Steam Cleaning

Steam carpet cleaning is a method of deep cleaning carpets using hot water and pressure. This method generally requires the use of a machine, as it can be quite tough to do on your own. Carpet steam cleaning is not very effective because the high temperatures and pressure can damage carpets, and the leftover moisture can lead to mold and mildew growth.

Carpet Shampooing

Carpet shampooing is a method of cleaning carpets using a detergent or soap combined with water. This method is done with a machine, and usually requires the use of a brush to work the detergent into the carpet. Carpet shampooing is not as effective as other methods because it does not rinse away all of the soap, which can leave residues behind that can attract dirt. In

Bonnet Cleaning

Bonnet cleaning is a type of carpet cleaning that uses a wet foam or shampoo to clean the carpet. A cotton cloth, called a bonnet, is attached to a rotating buffer and used to apply the cleaning solution and agitate the dirt and stains. The bonnet absorbs the dirty solution and is then replaced with a clean one. Bonnet cleaning is not as effective as other methods of carpet cleaning because it is a temporary solution that only slightly cleans the surface. It is most often used for hotels and office buildings because of its quick results as a quick fix.

Dry Carpet Cleaning

Dry carpet cleaning is a newer method of carpet cleaning. This method uses a special powder that is spread over the carpets and then worked into the fibers with a rotating brush. The powder absorbs dirt, dust, and stains. Once the powder has had time to work, it is vacuumed up, taking dirt, dust, and stains with it. Dry carpet cleaning is also not a very effective method of carpet cleaning because it only cleans the surface. Dry carpet cleaning does not remove all the dirt, dust, and debris from deep within the carpet.

Encapsulation Cleaning

Also known as "encapping", encapsulation cleaning is a newer method of carpet cleaning. This method uses special detergents and preservatives to remove dirt, dust, and stains from the surface of the carpets. Encapsulated solutions are a powdery substance that is applied to the carpet and then vacuumed up after they have had time to work into the fibers and absorb dirt. Encapsulation carpet cleaning is not recommended because it does not remove all the dirt, dust, and stains from deep within the carpet.
